Job Title: Day Area Engineer (Flake)

£50000 per annum

Monday - Friday 8hrs per day

Overall Role Purpose

Has an overall objective to deliver the plant reliability objective of >96.5%.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance both electrically and mechanically, ensuring tasks are carried out swiftly and conform with required specifications, complying with safety regulations.

Reports into the Maintenance Manager and co-operates with both shift and day colleagues. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Accountability for maintenance of an ‘area’ of production equipment and responsible for ensuring >96.5% engineering uptime focussing on improving the mean time between failure and ensuring plans are in place to reduce the mean time to repair.
  • Carry out weekly PPM inspection rounds, assessing the state of equipment, managing risk and prioritising maintenance and repairs.
  • Deliver greater than 90% completion rate of PPMs per period, balancing risk, requirements and availability against a planning schedule.
  • Plan, organise and complete 2 weekly (and annual) shut down engineering activities.
  • Manage and organise contractor labour to help deliver planned maintenance safely, on time, and that work is to the required standard.
  • Collaborate with service providers and suppliers to maintain equipment.
  • Work together with production colleagues for the area and improve both technical and operational uptime and improve ways of working.
  • Carry out corrective maintenance repairs in a timely manner.
  • Fault finding and root cause analysis of downtime events with improvement actions to minimise likelihood of re-occurrence.
  • Register all work activities in the automated maintenance system (SAP) including hours worked, spares used and details of the tasks carried out.
  • Support the projects that are happening in your area, and assume control where required, and provide specialist knowledge.
  • Follow all safety procedures including LOTO (Log off/Tag Out)
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by your supervisor/manager

Qualifications

A recognised engineering qualification, City & Guilds or HNC equivalent

Lamb Weston chemical training, H+S, GMP and Food Safety desirable

Experience

3+ years maintenance engineering experience within an automated food manufacturing operation

2-3 years’ engineering experience in manufacturing plant.
