Product Packaging Technologist

As a Product Packaging Technologist you are responsible for the design, development and manufacture of packaging for a range of products in the total portfolio. You support both Commercial as Supply Chain Business Units in ongoing optimization of packaging quality and production efficiency through pack developments. Assure Pilot line trials in collaboration with Stage Gate project managers to test and transition new pack designs into full scale production supporting new business developments and Innovations. You are a real companywide team player, being part of the Product Applications & Development team. This fulltime position is based in our Innovation Center in Bergen op Zoom and is Hay Grade 15.

What do you do?

  • Generating new packaging products in response to briefs
  • Ensuring that packaging products meet set requirements and specifications
  • Producing samples to try out different materials and designs
  • Liaising with marketing, purchasing and production staff
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality
  • Running trials to check packaging for suitability and testing for performance under various conditions
  • Controlling production and quality standards, including reporting packaging that doesn't meet these
  • Evaluating, selecting and negotiating with suppliers
  • Identifying and choosing products from suppliers
  • Writing reports in a clear way
  • Keeping up to date with technological innovations
  • Lead new packaging development projects and manage efficient delivery

What do you bring?

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Packaging technology, packaging design or any other related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Packaging Technology;
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English, knowledge of any other European language would be considered an added benefit;
  • SAP, Office 365 with strong Excel skills;
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% - flexibility is essential!
