Quality Engineer

As a Quality Engineer you will ensure efficiency by standardization and implementation of those standards in quality, food and feed safety, specifications, supplier and customer requirements, management system auditing

You will work closely with other Quality Engineers within Quality Compliance, Customer Quality and Operational Quality to take these aspects into account appropriately. 

This role is based in Breda and you will report to the Food Safety & Compliance Manager.

What will you do?

  • Abide by the policies, such as the Quality Policy
  • Follow procedures, like those for occupational health and safety and food safety
  • Based on content, provide guidance and direction to Lamb Weston in the own areas of expertise.
  • Build relationships across the company to create involvement and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Functional management of content-driven projects, expert teams and risk assessment teams.
  • Understand and implement strategic plans of the company and department; and translate these to yearly objectives/planning cycle both for the own position and for the functionally managed teams.
  • Set, maintain and improve standards and procedures at corporate level (companywide or for multiple sites). This includes appropriate risk management standards, management systems, document management, process and product certification
  • As appropriate, ensure that these standards and procedures are validated and measurable in performance indicators and for purpose of monitoring and verification.
  • Facilitate the implementation of standards & procedures in the different departments.
  • Capture, collate and analyse data related to (key) performance indicators and monitoring programs.
  • Interpret data and trends, analyse possible correlations and prepare (management) reviews.
  • Collaborate with the main stakeholder teams, including those in the US.
  • Support with expertise when non-compliances are escalated.
  • In close collaboration with the strategic Quality team, gather, develop and share relevant knowledge about food and feed safety and quality to timely prepare LWM for (emerging) risks and timely build capabilities that are required in the future.
  • Backup planning with the other Quality engineers

What do you bring?

  • Minimum Bachelor in Food safety, microbiology, toxicology or a related field, or equal level reached through similar education and relevant job experience
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience related to managing food and feed safety and quality, preferably in Food Industry, including in a food manufacturing environment. 
  • Excellent knowledge of food and feed safety and quality related topics such as but not limited to: quality control and quality assurance; potato quality; track & trace; laboratory testing; automated measurement and control loops; sensory science; allergens; contaminants; toxicology; (micro)biology; hygiene; HACCP; management systems; and hygienic design.
  • Project management skills
  • Good communication and influencing skills & strong tactics (e.g. for handling conflicting opinions) to manage relationships with internal and external parties in all layers of the company.

  • Accurate in written word
  • Organizational skills
